What should I do on our days off from practice?

I am impressed with how well everyone is doing after just four days of practice. I am seeing a lot of leadership potential in each and every one of you. Keep it up! I just have a few things to say.

First: This Saturday (Aug 13th) is an optional practice. We will begin at 9am and end around 11am. It is, however, strongly encouraged that you show up to practice, it will only help to improve yourself.

Second: Monday is the beginning of the school year!! That means our practice times will be changing to after school beginning at 2:30pm and going to 4-4:30pm, depending on the workout. Please inform your parents and guardians about the time changes.

Third: Some of you are asking about extra things that you can be doing when we aren't practicing. On the days we aren't practicing, I suggest that you get a small workout in. It is important to jog at least a mile on our off days because lactic acid build up occurs in our muscles while working out.

Lactic acid is released into the muscles when they have used up their normal energy stores but still have intense energy needs. Small amounts of lactic acid operate as a temporary energy source, thus helping you avoid fatigue during a workout. However, a build up of lactic acid during a workout can create burning sensations in the muscles that can slow down or halt your athletic activity.

Jogging helps to burn up or use the remaining lactic acid that's built up during our intense workouts over the course of the week. For more tips on how to reduce lactic acid build up check out this helpful website:

That is all that I have for tonight, see everyone at practice bright and early at 9am!
